The following Concrete Acrylic Coatings Systems are provided below to give our customers some idea of which system would be most appropriate for their particular needs. At KC Artistic Concrete, we provide two different Concrete Protector systems from which to choose. Installation of both systems begins with the same surface preparation using industry recognized techniques such as concrete acid etching, pressure washing, grinding, or shot blasting if required, to ensure good adhesion. It is important to get the old concrete clean and properly etched to create the perfect bond with our products. Once properly bonded, these acrylic and epoxy resins harden and actually become harder than the original concrete surface upon which they were applied.

With proper installation and regular cleaning, you can expect many years of maintenance-free and beautiful concrete. This means that you won't have to worry about spending time and money on costly repairs or maintenance, as the coating system will maintain its integrity and appearance for a long time.

SYSTEM 1

The premier pool deck coating. This system begins with a 100% cover of our grout coat in the color you pick, then we add dime to quarter sized beads of our acrylic textured cement sprayed across the surface then knocked down to achieve a stucco like texture. The second application can be the same color, or your choice of color to achieve an artistic look on the knockdown. After drying, a coat of Concrete Protector 25% Acrylic Sealer (clear) is applied. But don't stop there, add a border!

SYSTEM 2

For a professional three dimensional look, such as a Rustic Hardwood Plank or tiled look, we base coat with a colored cement of your choice. A pattern or design is then placed on top of the base coat, followed by a topcoat in the color of your choice. The pattern, when pulled off, will achieve the raised surface effect giving the project a “three dimensional” look. Highlights using stain or colored cement can then be added. After drying, a coat of Concrete Protector 25% Acrylic Sealer (clear) is applied.

EPOXY STAINED CONCRETE

Stains react with the current concrete to form a permanent color that generally has a marble or mottled look. If your concrete is in bad shape an overlay may be needed to achieve a clean canvas, followed up with one of our many staining options.

Stained concrete floors are a great option for basement floors, restaurants, garage floors, and more because of their affordability and elegant look. By using concrete stains a beautiful marble or mottled look can be achieved providing a great concrete floor that is highly durable. Concrete provides the perfect canvas for us to create unique “pieces of art”. Decorative measures can be taken to further enhance the concrete surface, and give it the look of tile or any design imaginable.

There are generally two types of stains; acetone based dyes, and water based stains. Acetone dyes react with lime in the concrete forming a permanent stain that is highly durable. Every slab of concrete is different and therefore accepts the stain differently. This means that colors vary from slab to slab making each job unique. Acetone dyes come in about 12 different colors which are generally earth tones. In order for the concrete to receive an acetone dye it needs to be completely clean and free from sealer. Most stains are usually sprayed down in an inconsistent manner. Different techniques such as rags and mops can be used to achieve more creative effects. Acetone dyes provide the customer with more vibrant colors as well as more control of the final color. These stains are great for floors that require a more consistent color, but can also have the mottling effect if so desired. This stain has the most versatility and vibrancy and is much less time consuming to apply. Water based stains are also increasing in popularity largely in part because of health concerns as opposed to other staining methods. They are also more user-friendly. Stains are generally sealed with high-quality sealers and are followed up with floor waxes.

Epoxy Metallic coatings will allow you to “guild” your concrete to replicate the look of copper, silver, aged bronze, nickel, and other shimmery patinas. The metallics' ability to achieve spectacular special effects when applied to a concrete floor is an absolute statement! This new alchemy is available for adding razzle-dazzle to your floors. Our coatings contain real metallic powders, while others use special reflective pigments. They are especially popular for floors in basements, retail spaces, offices, and restaurant settings, where a modern, upscale, elegant, industrial, and contemporary look is desired. We can include up to 3 colors during the installation to customize your desired look. The unique effects possible with Epoxy Metallic Coatings are endless! Prep the floor by grinding with a Vac system to minimize dust.

Access and complete any necessary repairs.

STEP 3

Apply a colored epoxy base coat followed by epoxy metallics.

Inspect & apply topcoat.
