Kansas City Concrete Polishing

Kansas City Concrete Polishing

Need your concrete polished? KC Artistic Concrete is the #1 choice for Kansas City concrete polishing.

Concrete slabs have a distinct and natural beauty that is complex yet singular. Industry, retail, and other  end users desire a floor finish that is bright and reflective, inviting and clean.  That finish was only available by utilizing finish goods like vinyl tile, linoleum, terazzo, ceramic tile, epoxies, etc.  What was long lacking in concrete polishing was a method to provide the luster and warmth provided by these materials, while retaining the high traffic ability and cost effectiveness of concrete.

The advent of lithium based densifiers and diamond polishing technologies have transformed the finishes of concrete substrates from drab to vibrant.  Concrete can now exhibit reflective capabilities that rival many of the most popular commercial finishes.  The polished concrete industry is rapidly becoming very popular to all industries, providing durability and aesthetic value that surpasses previous options. By choosing materials and processes that are proper for each concrete slab, a finish can be achieved that is cost effective, provides the desired appearance, and exhibits surface longevity.

KC Artistic Concrete has developed methods and processes to implement polished concrete systems while educating our clients in all aspects of the concrete finish.  We deliver the information and choices necessary to make quality decisions that will define your finished concrete.

Concrete Dusting and Efflorescence Control

Lithium treated and polished concrete controls the two biggest undesired characteristics of bare concrete:  dusting and efflorescence.  Dusting is the process where tiny particles of concrete detach from the floor and become, yes, dust.  This dusting can affect neighboring finishes, adjacent product and equipment, and adversely impact employees’ health.  Efflorescence is the drive of minerals and salts through concrete by hydrostatic drive and pressures.

Resistance to Staining and Enhanced Cleanliness

Polished concrete seals the floor by reducing the porousity of the concrete, minimizing the size of the pores of the surface.  This reduced porousity provides less profile for staining agents to grab and adhere.  This greatly reduces the affect of water born agents, oils, and other undesirable materials on the finished surface.

Maintenance for Concrete Polishing

Polished concrete floors require much less maintenance than most other surfaces.  Tile, linoleum, and carpet, terazzo, ceramics, epoxies, all require upkeep and constant surface treatment that can quickly cost as much as the original installation.  With polished concrete in Kansas City, there is no waxing and stripping as with tile and other finishes. Cleaning requires nothing more than water or an occasional mild scrubbing.  The luster on finished concrete can be quickly and inexpensively enhanced, leading an extended life that far exceeds other floor finishes.

Greater Light Reflectivity and Ambient Lighting

Light reflection can increase the efficiency of existing lighting and substantially reduce the amount of light fixturing required in new building projects.  This reduction translates directly into capital lighting investment savings and energy costs.

Safer Floors

The “wet look” of correctly polished concrete may appear slippery, but an increased pedestrian hazard is not at all the case.  The process to produce polished concrete diminishes imperfections and other inconsistencies in the substrate, providing an improved finish for foot travel.  The affects of polishing on dusting and efflorescence also assists in providing an overall safer floor. These floors typically meet or exceed OSHA recommendations for friction coefficiency.

Epoxy Coating or Polished Concrete

There are times when epoxy staining is specified for finish, and there are certain looks that you can only get by using epoxies and urethanes in places like food preparation, specialty manufacturing, aerospace, etc.  But in many instances, mostly commercial,  polished concrete can provide a finish that meets the requirements of the critical flooring, offering a cost effective alternative that exhibits favorable characteristics.

Polishing brings out the natural beauty of concrete, by smoothing the surface. Through multiple grinding stages we will smooth your concrete to an even and pristine state. From there we can apply an optional dye: then the hardener, finally we make the last grinding pass that brings out the luster.
